Ringtone Tapestries (2015)

iPhone ringtones visualized as spectrograms, then woven into tapestries.

This project places familiar sounds of our time in the context of an ancient storytelling device, and acknowledges the Jacquard loom, a forefather of the computer, which simplified the process of manufacturing textiles through punch cards and gave the user the ability to change the pattern of the loom’s weave by changing cards.
